Specificity: Binds to the truncated amyloid precursor protein frameshift mutant, which results from a GA dinucleotide deletion from the normal APP gene. This abnormal protein has been found to accumulate in the brains of some patients with Alzheimer's disease. This reagent labels dystrophic neurites in senile plaques of brains from AD patients following formalin fixation.
