Specificity: Specifically recognizes the 515kD a-chain of human LRP/a2MR which is expressed in a restricted spectrum of cell types. A strong immunohistochemical reaction is seen in hepatocytes, tissue macrophages, subsets of neurons and astrocytes in the central nervous system, fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and monocyte-derived foam cells in atherosclerotic lesions in the arterial wall. Can also be used for the characterization of a subset of myelomonocytic subtypes of chronic and acute leukemia (CD 91).
