Specificity: This item specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of mouse choline acetyltransferase (Chat), an enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of acetyl CoA and choline into the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (Ach), at both central and peripheral cholinergic synapses.

Studies have linked abnormalities in Chat with the neurodegenerative disease Alzheimer's, and also with schizophrenia and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
