PPARG is vital in the regulation of cellular differentiation, development and metabolism. PPARG is a key regulator of adipocyte differentiation and glucose homeostasis. In addition, PPARG is the main target of thiazolidinediones (TZDs), a class of drug used in diabetes mellitus and other diseases that feature insulin resistance.
