Specificity: This item detects an epitope within the N-terminal region of human CD26, an 110kD protein also known as dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4). CD26 is a serine protease which is specific for N-terminal proline residues at the penultimate position of a peptide chain, leading to dipeptide release.

CD26 is a multifunctional protein that exists as a membrane bound form and a soluble form. CD26 has three major functions including adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding, peptidase activity and extracellular matrix binding, all of which can influence T-cell proliferation and chemotaxis. It has also been shown to be involved in apoptosis.

Abnormal CD26 expression is found in autoimmune diseases, HIV-related diseases and cancer.
