Specificity: This item is specific for human MLH1 (Homologue 1 of E Coli MutL Protein).

MLH1 is housekeeping gene, which plays an important role in DNA mismatch repair. In humans, the protein encoded by MLH1 forms at least two dimeric factors with either PMS2 or MLH3. These heterodimers are reported to form larger complexes made up of several other DNA repair proteins, including MSH2 and MSH6.

In addition to DNA mismatch repair, MLH1 is thought to pay a role in the induction of apoptosis in response to DNA damage.

Mutations in MLH1 have been implicated in certain types of colon cancer.
