Specificity: This item recognises human CD54, a 90kD type 1 transmembrane protein which is also known as ICAM-1. CD54 is broadly expressed on haematopoietic and endothelial cells. CD54 is also expressed by many cells following activation by inflammatory mediators. The CD54 molecule is a ligand for integrins CD11a/CD18 and CD11a/CD18, and for fibrinogen. The molecule also acts as a receptor for rhinoviruses and erthyrocytes infected with Plasmodium falciparum.
