Specificity: This item recognises human Low density lipoprotein receptor related-protein 6 (LRP6), a 180.4 kDa single pass type 1 membrane protein belonging to the LDLR family.

LRP6 is an essential component of the Wnt/beta catenin signalling pathway where it is believed to act as a co-receptor with Frizzled for Wnt. It is a specific high affinity receptor for DKK1 and DKK2.

LRP6 is implicated in a wide range of normal and disease processes connected with lipid metabolism. It is co-expressed with LDR5 during embryogenesis and in adult tissues.

Defects in LRP6 cause autosomal dominant coronary artery disease type 2.
