Specificity: This item is specific for the alpha subunit of human chorionic gonadotrophin (CG) and luteinizing hormone (LH). It is thought to react with alpha subunits of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Human CG is a 39.5 kDa peptide hormone that is composed of one alpha and one beta subunit. The alpha subunit is identical to that of LH, TSH and FSH. CG is secreted by placental syncytiotrophoblasts and stimulates the ovaries to produce steroids that are essential to pregnancy.
